This FREE program aims to give kids from grades 3-8 the chance to dig into unique topics outside of the school curriculum. Taught by qualified groups of high schoolers, the Summer Immersive Program provides an opportunity for kids to explore different interests become more culturally aware, and even develop a new passion!
This year's SIP Program was a huge success! With 8 classes, 17 teachers, and over 70 students, members from JJ EcoFriends and Students Creating Change taught students ranging from 3rd to 8th grade. As students ourselves, we understand firsthand the impact that one teacher, one class, one mentor, can have on students. This awareness paired with the clear difficulties that came with the COVID-19 pandemic was what inspired the first immersive program in 2021 and continues to drive us to this day. To help ameliorate that, we developed a program this year that cover a myriad of subjects: debate, calligraphy, music theory, crime documentaries, and so much more! Each class was taught by a skilled group of high schoolers experienced in the area, ranging from insanely talented artists to musicians with over a decade of practice under their belts.
