Meet Bubba, a lively and energetic seal from the North Pacific Ocean who never seems to stop smiling and is always full of energy. In addition to having a strange obsession with taiyaki (he loves the ice cream ones, although custard filling is pretty high up there as well), Bubba can usually be found learning new swimming techniques and tricks or racing with nearby schools of fish. One of his favorite things to do is hang out with his best friend Flippers, a young penguin whose calm and unfazed personality acts as the perfect counterbalance to Bubba’s unbridled enthusiasm.

 

Recent oil spills, however, have wreaked havoc on Bubba’s simple day-to-day life, and it certainly has not been a fun experience seeing his home polluted and destroyed. To make matters worse, the health of some of his friends and family has been steadily deteriorating due to the toxic properties of the oil. Luckily, an animal hospital opened up a few miles away, and some human volunteers have been helping treat and take care of them. Bubba has made it his life goal to spread word about the importance of keeping marine environments safe and clean.
